Mettapracharak Hospital (Wat Rai Khing) has established its mission in alignment with the mission of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists of
Thailand to train resident physicians in the specialty of ophthalmology, aiming to produce ophthalmologists with knowledge and expertise in ophthalmology
to meet the needs of ophthalmic healthcare services in Thailand.
The mission also encompasses training to ensure that resident physicians possess competencies in all 6 core competency areas,
are able to practice independently without supervision, provide appropriate and effective treatment, are compassionate and
attentive to safety in order to solve problems and promote ophthalmic health with a positive attitude, morality, and ethics,
are able to work as part of an interprofessional team, and demonstrate professionalism by placing patients at the center based on holistic
care, while also taking into account appropriate social responsibility toward the community and Thai society, having the intention and commitment to lifelong
learning under suitable working conditions, and being able to maintain the health of trainees in a balanced manner.

Past Achievements
Mettapracharak Hospital (Wat Rai Khing) began its ophthalmology residency training program in 2007.
The training capacity was 3 positions, along with the launch of a fellowship training program in ophthalmology, subspecializing in oculoplastic and reconstructive surgery.
Subsequently, fellowship training programs in retina and vitreous, and glaucoma were introduced in the following years.
Year 2012 Received an institutional training program evaluation from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists of Thailand and was accredited at the “Excellent” level.
Year 2013 Increased the ophthalmology residency training capacity from 3 positions to 5 positions.
Year 2019 Passed the institutional training program evaluation according to WFME standards and increased the training capacity from 5 to 7.
Year 2022 Passed the institutional training program evaluation according to WFME standards
